(53,475 posts)1. We can count on Mike Tate to have it wrong again ....
Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said Burke, Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris and Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma, who ran in the Democratic primary during last years recall election, are the only three Democrats so far to declare interest in running against Walker next year.
He said it remains unclear whether the Democrats will have a primary next year or if only one candidate will run. Whoever emerges will likely do so before Thanksgiving, he said.
This is going to be one of the top two or three governors races in the country, Tate said. The longer we can go without giving (Walker) a target to shoot at is a positive thing for the Democratic Party.

No, Mike, that's how we lost the recall.
I don't know anything about Burke, but have made queries to my Madison contacts to see if anyone has an informed opinion.

(18,964 posts)2. I'm getting worried...
...no true "All Star" has yet emerged...
Any of the three mentioned in the article would most likely be a good, progressive, competent Governor but we need some "fire in the belly".. "hell fire and brimstone" candidate who can fire up the base, excite people to go to the polls and drag along enough down-ticket candidates to take over the Senate and put a dent in that god-awful Republican Majority in the Assembly.
I know that's a big order...
and truthfully....
I don't see that fire-breathing democrat anywhere on the horizon
