Wisconsin 'Money Badger' Michael Grebe Paying Fox Big Bucks for Fawning Coverage

http://www.onewisconsinnow.org/press/is-wisconsin-money-badger-michael-grebe-paying-fox-news-head-big-bucks-for-fawning-media-coverage-of.html

Is Wisconsin 'Money Badger' Michael Grebe Paying Fox News Head Big Bucks for Fawning Media Coverage of His Favorite Wisconsin Politicians?

Madison - Roger Ailes, Fox News Chair and CEO, is in line for a big payday courtesy of Wisconsin's "Money Badger" Michael Grebe, head of the Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation and co-chair of Gov. Scott Walker's campaign. According to news reports, Ailes will receive a $250,000 no strings attached "Bradley Award" in a ceremony next month.

One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross commented, "It seems strange that the Bradley Foundation would pay $250,000 for the fawning media coverage they and their right-wing agenda already get for free from Roger Ailes and Fox News. Maybe there's more than meets the eye here."

One Wisconsin Now research has exposed the vast web the Bradley Foundation has spun to advance their right-wing, pro-corporate agenda, including financing racist, voter suppression billboards, helping to underwrite a multi-million dollar, tax deductible ad campaign supporting Gov. Walker's attack on Wisconsin workers in the lead up to his recall election and running a $31 million-plus education privatization propaganda campaign in Wisconsin.

Bradley head Grebe has served as Gov. Walker's campaign co-chair since 2010. He has also been credited by failed Republican Vice-Presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as being his 'political godfather' and was instrumental in elevating current RNC Chair and fellow Wisconsinite Reince Priebus to his position.

"Calling what Fox does news is like calling Scott Walker a job creator, Paul Ryan a groundbreaking economic thinker or Reince Priebus a civil rights pioneer. As Walker jets around the country instead of doing his job in Wisconsin and Ryan tries to spin his disproven austerity schemes, one has to wonder how much fawning media coverage the 'Money Badger's' $250,000 will get for his protégés," concluded Ross.

What I don't understand is why One Wisconsin Now put this in the form of a question. It's not like the Bradley Foundation hasn't pai off Fox's shills for favorable coverage before: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5516714

Romney Aide Heads to GOP Firm | Shop Talk

Longtime Mitt Romney aide Lou Tavares is a new vice president at SCM Associates, a Republican direct marketing firm.

Tavares’ work with Romney goes back seven years, to his time as general counsel during Romney’s stint as governor of Massachusetts. In the 2012 presidential campaign, Tavares held the title of staff secretary and senior adviser. He oversaw outgoing media from the campaign. Previously, he was the chief operating officer and counsel of Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC.

“I am very excited to welcome Lou Tavares to the SCM Associates team,” President Stephen C. Meyers said in a release. “His years of experience helping to manage complex national operations and cross-channel marketing programs for Mitt Romney will help us offer our clients an even more fully-integrated and consistent marketing program.”

SCM’s clients include Romney, former Massachusetts Sen. Scott P. Brown, House Budget Chairman Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel adds former Fox News editor to newsroom management

A newsroom memo informed Journal Sentinel staff Monday that David Paulsen will be joining the paper in a week to become breaking news editor. The memo added:

For the last five years David has run the evening and overnight operation at FoxNews.com in New York. At Fox he was in charge of a team very much like our Newshub, shaping its urgent response to national and international breaking news. He had responsibilities over story assigning and editing as well as production and news placement on the site.

Women journalists at the paper are not amused, especially since the paper continues its recent tradition of placing men in all the important editor jobs. The memo was leaked to blogging national media watchdog Jim Romenesko, a former Milwaukee Journal reporter now based in Evanston, Illinois. See link below for the full skinny.

You know, just because someone worked at Fox News doesn't mean that person is necessarily a right-wing ideologue, but it possibly does mean that they were comfortable taking orders from right-wing ideologues. Jury is out, but this may prove yet another reason for discriminating news consumers to consider getting their Wisconsin local, state and regional news from someplace other than Milwaukee's daily rag.

...in plain envelopes, under the table? Or handed out to editors and
publishers after quid pro quo back room agreements? The 'foundation'
guarantees good-press-coverage in exchange for... who knows what?

There's no really no way to tell, except by considering the evidence
that's actually available in print, or online, or on video. How bad and
unfair and biased is the coverage? That's only the tip of the iceberg
but it's the only thing I can think of to evaluate.
