Wisconsin: Supervisor of Schools candidate wants to recruit armed guards for our schools

Please support Tony Evers, not Don Pridemore, for State Superintendent of Schools.

from my email ...

Scuba,

Last week, we announced our endorsement of Tony Evers for State Superintendent of Schools. This week, we're reeling from what Evers' opponent, Republican State Representative Don Pridemore, had to say about keeping our schools safe.

Seeking to capitalize on the national debate over gun control, Pridemore actually came out with a proposal to recruit armed volunteers - with no definition of what would qualify a volunteer to carry a gun in our children's classrooms - to staff our schools. No matter where you stand on the issue of gun control, the idea of arming our tutors and reading buddies with guns is alarming.

Please make an immediate contribution to help us re-elect Tony Evers and keep the halls of our state's schools safe.

In response to Pridemore's statement, Evers told the Wisconsin State Journal that the proposal will not make our students safer and would be detrimental to the learning environment.

Evers supports a common-sense approach to keeping our kids safe, including a pledge to continue work on keeping trained police officers in schools that request them, not taking risks with the safety of Wisconsin's schools.

Chip in to our grassroots election fund to elect Tony Evers.
The future of our schools depends on a competent professional like Tony Evers leading the way.

Thank you for your support,

-Your Friends at United Wisconsin
