The gender voting gap for this election is looking to be one of the largest ever, perhaps as much as 18 points nationally in the presidential election. And because a larger percentage of women than men in the state and across the nation vote for Democrats, the gender gap (perhaps also an intelligence gap) will be perhaps the most crucial deciding factor on Nov. 6th.
President Obama now has an 8 point lead in Wisconsin according to a new Marquette University poll: 50 to 43. On social issues alone the score was Obama 56, Romney 38.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin now leads Tommy Thompson by four percentage points, 47 to 43, in the same Marquette poll.
And because Wisconsin is one of the crucial swing states this year, Wisconsin women maybe even a few officially Republican women appalled by what some Republicans are saying about rape, access to birth control, healthcare and abortion will have a big say in who will represent this nation.
