Last week, a lawmaker in Spain was forced to resign after saying, Laws are like women they are there to be raped. Not to be outdone by a European counterpart, Wisconsin State Representative and Paul Ryan supporter, Roger Rivard said some girls, they rape so easy, when talking about a rape case involving a 17-year-old boy and an underaged girl.
Of course, Rivard says the words are taken out of context and he was quoting his father. He meant to say, some girls, they (cry) rape so easy, if they get pregnant. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
He also told me one thing, If you do (have premarital sex), just remember, consensual sex can turn into rape in an awful hurry, Rivard said. Because all of a sudden a young lady gets pregnant and the parents are madder than a wet hen and shes not going to say, Oh, yeah, I was part of the program. All that she has to say or the parents have to say is it was rape because shes underage. And he just said, Remember, Roger, if you go down that road, some girls, he said, they rape so easy.
What the whole genesis of it was, it was advice to me, telling me, If youre going to go down that road, you may have consensual sex that night and then the next morning it may be rape. So the way he said it was, Just remember, Roger, some girls, they rape so easy. It may be rape the next morning.

Nichole Kathol, president of the Barron County Domestic Abuse Project, said Rivard's comments portray women as perpetrators of violence against them.
"He's blaming the victim and implying the definition of rape is all too encompassing," she said.
Pennie Meyers, interim executive director of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, said in a statement that Rivard's comments show people in Wisconsin need to be better educated about sexual violence.
