The embezzlement case against Timothy Russell, a former top county aide to Gov. Scott Walker, hit a stumbling block Friday when Russell's lawyer admitted he had accepted a job as a prosecutor without disclosing that to his client or to prosecutors and the judge assigned to his case.
In an unusual court hearing, Dennis Krueger, who is Russell's fourth lawyer in the case, admitted under questioning by an angry Circuit Court Judge David Hansher that he had accepted a prosecutor job in Fond du Lac County June 13. Krueger said he thought he could still represent Russell - even after he officially starts his new job July 30.
Russell's trial was slated to start in September but could be delayed if Hansher disqualifies Krueger in the case or if Russell decides he wants a new lawyer. Russell at first said he'd like to keep Krueger on his case.

Hansher said Krueger had been "unprofessional and hypocritical" in failing to disclose his new job and the judge said he may file a complaint against Krueger with the state Office of Lawyer Regulation accusing him of professional misconduct.
Krueger's new boss, Dan Kaminsky in Fond du Lac County, is the "prosecutor" who tripped over his politics in letting randy Randy Hopper off on a drunk driving charge. Kaminsky is a Republican tool of the lowest order.
