When this meteorological winter, -is "the warmest ever in Wisconsin",

Yep. only a few weeks of ice fishing and a little cross country skying which are two of my favorite
things to do in winter in WI.

When this meteorological winter, which runs from December through February, comes to an end on Thursday, it will go down as the warmest ever in Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service.

I don't think snowmobile trails even opened in Wisconsin except for the very northern part of the state. sybylla Mar 6 #3

Another bad year for snowmobilers, ice-fishing, cc/downhill skiing. All of the shacks are off the local lake. I suspect that the ice will be gone before the end of March.

That's very unusual. In central there is usually at least 2 months of snowmobiling and in the southern part of the state a few weeks to a month.

My dad is an avid ice fisher and he only got out on the ice in late December and January. Nothing has been safe since in central Wisconsin since the first weekend in February.
