If it seems like umbrellas have worked overtime recently, it's official - Wisconsin recorded its wettest year through July.

The average precipitation in the state was 25.25 inches from Jan. 1 through July 31 - that's 7.14 inches above average. Precipitation totals from numerous reporting stations around the state were averaged together to come up with the 25-inch number.

Records date back 123 years.

The National Weather Service office in Sullivan trumpeted the news on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Severe flooding that affected parts of southeastern and south central Wisconsin in July probably pushed the state over the record, said J.J. Wood, a National Weather Service meteorologist based in Sullivan.

After enduring the wettest wet season on record, Seattle has tied its record for the driest July and August, last set over 100 years ago, with just 0.02" of rain.

As well as dry, hot, cold ..... And start PLANNING too. The Fed and local govt need to plan the new buildings and infrastructure in their areas keeping climate change and the financial long term costs in mind. They need to plan for the next 100 years and decide when and where to build and design environmental features that will protect people from the coming changes.
