Seems like it's one thing after another in Wisconsin. The red state. Who would have ever figured how bad things would become here. This used to be a great place to live and raise a family. We used to have good jobs here. Now nothing is sacred. Scott Walker I have one question for you. If you really do believe in god, do you think you will go to heaven or to hell for all the damage you have done. Was all that Koch money was worth it?

(3,967 posts)I remember them as very nice. Also remember it was not particularly wealthy, so not necessarily a lot of margin for error in trying to transfer wealth to the rich without destroying the middle / working class. How is that playing out?

(22,340 posts)I moved here 22 years ago from Minnesota. I didn't notice much difference in attitude. My son now goes to college in St Cloud. Going up there now I notice a HUGE difference in attitude and how much more friendly people are in Minnesota.

(3,283 posts)Yes, they still defend him and no, they will never realize their mistake because they don't think they made one. They're right wingers to the end. The state is full of them.

(184 posts)He wants Walker for president. This is someone who used to work as a union factory worker, but now says all unions are bad. He also says that Walker is "squeaky clean" because he's been under investigation since the very beginning as the governor. The guy is only 36 years old and listens to conservative talk radio all day and all night. He's never happy. He's always pissed off. You would think he would be worried about what is happening in this state because he has a young family to raise. To say he doesn't get it is an understatement. Conservative talk radio destroys people's minds when they lack critical thinking skills.

(202 posts)and seeing how they all carried around the same ALEC playbook, I knew exactly how bad it could get and how hard they all would lie - not just Snotty Scotty.
What I didn't expect was how quickly the WisGOP would start shredding the state to suit their donors.
By the time we got to the 2014 election, with the gerrymandering solidly in place, it was clear that a win would embolden them and initiate some amazingly hasty hatchet work.
If you didn't see the shit that's happening now, you weren't paying attention for the last four years.
On the other hand, living in a conservative part of the state, my anecdotal evidence says no one is happy about what's going on right now. The buyer's remorse is building and getting strong.
I'm torn between wanting the GOP to just fucking go away and wanting my conservative idiot neighbors to suffer for their ignorance. I'd like them to never again believe anything that comes out of a GOP candidate's mouth or ass for that matter.

(18,964 posts)...we could see that the repubs had secured unfettered power after the gerrymandering....my shock was how far they would go in exercising it....
I never believed they would do as much damage to the state as they have....I always thought that the legislative Republicans would still see themselves as Wisconsinites...as Badgers with all the heritage of the State of Wisconsin in their DNA.....
Boy....was I wrong...

(813 posts)The one true thing Walker said was it's a purple state. His 47% base ain't ever going to change its mind, so he only needs a few percent of the middle.
I moved here in '79 for grad school and always loved it. But I'm going to retire elsewhere. It's too bad for my blood pressure...
