The rich’s Scott Walker bungle: Why plutocrats fell for the wrong GOP governor
The Wisconsin governor smashed unions and shredded the safety net, so his many stumbles have been forgiven – so far

I think you will find the entire article worth the time spent reading--but I am biased as I like Walsh's work.

Anyway--spoiler alert--Walker knows how to suck up for the prize.

The rich's Scott Walker bungle: Why plutocrats fell for the wrong GOP governor

I wrote Tuesday about the way Jeb Bush is sucking the air out of the so-called moderate wing of the GOP, smothering the potential candidacy of people like Ohio Gov. John Kasich (at least for now). It’s also worth looking at the way Wisconsin’s Scott Walker is crowding out Kasich.

Just like Kasich is an actual reformist conservative who blends traditional GOP tax and budget cutting with maverick stands like expanding Medicaid and criminal justice reform – compared with supposedly reformist Bush, whose economic program consists of warmed over supply side policies – Kasich is what Scott Walker pretends to be: A practical Midwestern governor of a hugely important swing state with a track record of governing.

Kasich’s state is also rebounding well from the recession, while Walker’s is last in Midwestern job creation and first in the nation in middle-class wage decline. So why is Walker still considered Bush’s top primary challenger, especially for the donor class, while Kasich can’t get started?.................

swing the state back to progressive ideals. Here are few, unemployment is rising while neighboring state Minnesota is booming, and the folks along the Western edge of Wisconsin are fleeing to Minnesota to find jobs. Next, with the proposed increases in Real Estate Property Taxes to keep local towns and villages afloat after the huge give backs to Business and Farmers, the Rethugs will see the pitchforks and torches from the people whom bought their line of bullcrap after their Bank Accounts get hit to pay these new taxes. Next, smart business leaders will not relocate to or they will start to leave do to the trashing of one of the Nations most progressive Education system, sad to say, watched my home state go from fist in Education to somewhere in the middle percentile and heading towards the Nevada Mississippi Alabama level. Next, with the Health and Human Services demolishen by Walker and the Koch Bros, the financial burden is shifted to the Village and County level, and therefore huge increases in local tax assessments in order to replace some of these safety net issues like Welfare and Social Services. Finally, the people who did all the finger pointing at State and County Workers will find out first hand what it will be like to live in Somalia.

Housing is a bit tight at the moment, but if you can do a commute, well there are some real deals in smaller towns. But hey,we Wisconsinites can adapt easily. Will be in Southern Minny by the middle of June and leave Labor Day for the Desert.

Joan Walsh needs her head examined. I live in Ohio. Is Kasich as awful as Walker? No. But that is really, really, really low bar. Yes, Ohio is experiencing a job recovery, but it is lagging far behind the rest of the country. Joan Walsh needs to take a look at HOW Johnny is working with the budget. He SLASHED local budgets and moved the funds to the state, so towns and cities are trying to find ways to make up the losses so they can function. Expansion of Medicaid? That's Johnny positioning himself to be pretzeldent. He wants to appear more centrist for the general election. I usually like Joan Walsh, but this is lazy and sloppy. It's like she read Johnny's press releases and summarized them for us. Shame on her.
