say the least. Bill had been talking of Scott Walker--his rise in the polls-the 'new darling' of the Republicans. etc. etc. Any Bob from WI was very articulate--had a handle of the devastation that Walker's austerity policies are doing to WI and its people. Then he said something--(sorry, I was listening in the background as I was setting things up for the day) about the upcoming November and how something might be done to get another recall going. Bob mentioned how Walker has been out of WI more IN Wisconsin-came in last week to quickly sign the Right to Work bill after campaigning that it was a distraction--and how private Unions were a Partner (yes Walker did say that) in his programs with business!! Anyway-then Bob said the recall get up in running (from groups--but he did not say which groups) with sigs by April and another election in June (2016).

Then he said something interesting--Walker would have problems running two campaigns (one in WI for gov and the General Election--If he got that far). I did find this very interesting to say the least.

The union members families vote for Walker. If they see themselves not affected twice, history will repeat itself. He will sew up the whole south.

I don't see it happening, though I would support it if it did.

I don't have time to look it up but I thought that under current law he has to be in office for one year before he can be recalled. Since his inauguration was in January (?) that would mean the earliest he could be recalled would be next January.

But maybe the caller was talking about November 2016. That would make more sense since more Democratic voters turn out during a Presidential year election. And that is one factor that cost Dems in 2014. Plus Feingold may be running in that cycle's Senatorial election (or maybe he would choose to run against Walker in a recall).

The signatures can be collected in the late fall and turned in when the first year is over in early January, which starts the recall.

I'm not sure this should be done unless a huge groundswell of disaffected Republicans somehow arises and is seen to be the force driving it. In other words, it's the will of not just the union leadership and Democrats but of a great many ordinary citizens who now realize they have been injured.

And If this does happen we must be very careful to make people aware of the whole process. Many votes were lost in Milwaukee because some people thought signing was all they had to do and they didn't vote.

However, if you're going to do it, have some viable replacement candidates on hand and willing to go before you collect the first signature. I don't want the agony of another Burke campaign.

There have been 3 Gubernatorial recalls in American history: Lynn Frazier in North Dakota in 1921, Gray Davis, and Walker. The first two succeeded, and of course the Walker recall failed.

The Robber Barons were out to get Frazier in ND because of his "socialist" policies (e.g. creatingState-owned banks & grain mills). A later generation of robber barons went after Gray Davis for dating to get in the way of their looting of the state.

And then ya got the Walker case.

In the first two cases, the recalls were initiated by conservative forces who wanted to rein in progressive or liberal Democrats. In the last, liberal/progressive forces failed to unseat Satan.

See my point? Liberal/Progressive forces have never prevailed in a recall. In 3 of 3, across more than 90 years of history, the reactionary forces have always gotten their way.

If WI were to fail again, it would have national repercussions at a critical time. It will immediately be painted (not without some reason) as a cynical political move by irredeemable soreheads.

I am worried that WI is weary of the recall thing. It would hurt us even more than we are now if it fails.
