Nygren chides Taylor

Tylor did good with her last comment. Bet Nygren was not expecting that.

Nygren chides Taylor

JFC Co-chair John Nygren chided Sen. Lena Taylor after she suggested state government did not begin to take the state's opiate problem seriously until after he began to discuss his daughter's struggle with addiction.

Nygren, R-Marinette, took Taylor to task for making his personal story part of her debate. Nygren said his family dealt with addiction for five or six years before deciding to talk up publicly to help people understand the issue.

.............

Taylor asked to have her microphone turned back on so she could respond, but Vice-chair Luther Olsen, R-Ripon, refused.
..............

Taylor said the state didn't act when it was an issue in Milwaukee before that and told Nygren, "You should be proud."

I love Sen. Taylor!

One of the things that I find amusing about the right wing is how nothing's a problem, until it affects them personally. Only then is any issue worth consideration.

On the whole, the conservative mindset seems to be: "Comedy is when someone else cuts their arm off with a chainsaw. Tragedy is when I personally get a paper cut." (Note, I'm not saying opiate addiction is as minor as a paper cut, nor am I attempting to trivialize what Nygren went through. I'm merely pointing out how nothing ever matters to a GOP-er until it happens to them specifically and personally.)

The inability to empathize is remarkable, and almost seems pathological.
