Breaking from Mike Tate: "I've been assured all good Democrats are on board. A big thank you to ALL our Dem Senators and to GOP Sen. Dale Schultz for doing the right thing!"

it puts to rest the rumor that was reported earlier today about Sen. Tim Carpenter planning to vote for the bill (supposedly because it would help his chances of being elected Milwaukee County Treasurer). I would not want to think he would do that.

Seems like they're probably trying to strong arm somebody until they get enough votes. Hopefully, the target for intimidation holds strong.

From the Journal-Sentinel:

The state Senate rejected mining legislation Tuesday designed to ease the regulatory path for a large open pit mine in northern Wisconsin.

The vote was another setback for the effort to streamline mining regulations, but legislative leaders still cling to hope they can approve a bill before the legislative session ends next week.

The measure senators rejected 17-16 was a version that the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee had approved Monday. Majority Republicans hope to send the matter to a legislative committee later Tuesday so they can bring it up another day.
