Privatization isn't just for K-12 schools in WI (UW-Superior)

Cut funding to public higher ed: check
Freeze tuition: check
Walker supporter as system president: check
Jim Villa in place: check

University of Wisconsin-Superior has suspended almost half of its 15 graduate programs as part of an effort to alleviate its annual structural deficit of $2.5 million....

Wisconsin State Employees union field representative Carolyn Kaiser blames the Republican Legislature’s cuts and two-year tuition freeze. She also thinks UWS may become the model for privatizing throughout the UW System.

“We’re very aware that they have probably tried to open the door, (and) that this is the first four-year campus that they are attempting do this at,” said Kaiser. Last week, all 26 grounds and custodian workers were told they could be laid off and that their jobs may be privatized.

It just means that more people won't be able to afford school, and more money will be spent on a sub-par education for those who do get an education.

Privatization is not practical. It's not efficient. It's supporters are out to lunch.

Walker don't want no smartass eddicated peepul whinin about his takeover.

Actually, I'm terribly saddened. I taught at that school many years ago, and really liked both the faculty and students. I'm still in contact with some of both.
