Scotty Fitzgerald must have other things in mind for higher office in the future, he is passing on WI-6 seat. Would he be the Republican in Waiting (c) if Walker gets the national Presidential nomination?

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he won't run for the congressional seat vacated by longtime Wisconsin Congressman Tom Petri.

Fitzgerald released a statement Monday saying he won't rule out a run for higher office in the future. But he said he plans to return next session as majority leader.

The statement by the Juneau Republican dispelled rumors that Fitzgerald would enter the fray of what will likely be a busy primary to fill Petri's seat.

State Sen. Glenn Grothman, a West Bend Republican, has announced he will move into the 6th Congressional District to run. Rep. Duey Stroebel, a Saukville Republican also plans on running. Republican Sen. Joe Leibham said he is also thinking about running.
