Apparently Mr. Tiffany has no sense of humor and doesn't know a joke when he sees one. Nick Van Der Puy was declared a homeless person by the Iron County Department of Human Services after a drawn out process which included phone calls to officials in Madison, and thereafter became entitled to vote in the Town of Anderson, which typically only has about 30 voters.

Amused by the whole situation, and given the fact that Anderson only has a handful of voters (In a county-wide race that I actually won, I was once outpolled there by Upson native Marty Lipske by about 28-2), I joked that a couple dozen more such people could control government in Anderson. My full post was as follows:

"A couple dozen more homeless folks in the Penokees could commandeer the Anderson Town government. I already have some proposed ordinances drafted for you. By the way, where are the Kochs supposed to mail flyers to you? How about big money radical environmentalists, where do you expect us to send our checks?"

Tiffany needs his head examined if he thinks this was an actual attempt to subvert the law. I was obviously making fun, complete with references to recent Americans for Prosperity mailings in Iron County, which labeled a known ardent mine supporter a "radical environmentalist," and made up stories about big money being funneled in to support him and others. I pondered about how all these deep-pocket folks might contact people without addresses. Even GTAC president Bill Williams apparently saw the humor and gave my post a "like." (If it wasn't actually him, then it was someone with the foresight to create an account in his name with his photo and other personal info back in 2009.)
