U.S. energy secretary Rick Perry to visit West Virginia coal plant Thursday

U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will visit West Virginia and tour a Monongalia County power plant on Thursday.

Rick Perry is scheduled to tour the Longview Power Plant in Maidsville at 9 a.m., according to the plant’s chief operating officer, Stephen Nelson.

U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito and U.S. Rep. David McKinley will accompany Perry, according to Jonathan Kott, Manchin’s communications director.

Nelson said the event will be a general tour for Perry to familiarize himself with a modern coal facility.
