Carolyn Long is back for a rematch with GOP Rep. Herrera Beutler

She closed quickly in a 2018 challenge to Republican U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, and educator Carolyn Long is off and running again in the 3rd Congressional district of Southwest Washington.

The nation's urban-rural divisions were on display last year in the 3rd District. Long won in populous Clark County (Vancouver), but Herrera Beutler swept the rural and coastal parts of the district.

The incumbent won by a 53-47% margin.

Long is back, and began her campaign Monday in Centralia: Lewis County is the most Republican turf in Western Washington, and gave Herrera Beutler her biggest majority. It was on to Longview, where Cowlitz County has been trending Republican.
