Sewer Overflow Closes Golden Gardens Beach

SEATTLE, WA — Avoid the beach at Golden Gardens Park in Ballard for the foreseeable future. A recent sewer overflow has dumped potentially harmful bacteria into the water, according to Seattle Public Utilities.

The overflow has been stopped, but the city and King County health officials are asking locals not to swim, wade, or touch the water. That warning also includes pets.

The Golden Gardens sewer overflow happened north of the beach area, according to officials.

This is the second water-quality advisory at Seattle park this week. Also on Wednesday, King County warned of a harmful algae bloom in Green Lake near Duck Island.
