No, Tim Eyman, judge says you can't back out of bankruptcy filing
Initiative promoter Tim Eyman won't be able to pull out of the filing for bankruptcy that he announced with fanfare last November, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Marc Barreca ruled Thursday.
"Once you voluntarily filed for bankruptcy, the mere fact that the bankruptcy isn't really doing what you hoped it would do for the debtor isn't of itself grounds for backing out of it," the judge told Eyman and his bankruptcy lawyers.
Filing for bankruptcy -- anticipating a big judgement against him in a civil suit for violating state campaign finance laws -- has brought Eyman's assets spending habits to public light. In February, he disclosed having $465,615 in three separate checking accounts.
Barreca has put Eyman on what in bankruptcy terms amounts to a fiscal diet.
Eyman must, by April 25, file monthly projections of spending and expenses for the next seven months. Beginning in May, he must file a budget to go to along with his monthly reports.
