State Sen. Ericksen will moonlight as lobbyist for Cambodia

State Sen. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, co-chair of President Trump's 2016 campaign in Washington, has registered with the federal government as a foreign agent representing Cambodia.

Ericksen will be joined by former State Rep. Jay Rodne under auspices of a company called Pac Rim Bridges, LLC., according to Politico, which broke the story Friday.

Ericksen was re-elected to his Senate seat from Whatcom County in 2018 by a margin of 45 votes. He hosted a rally for then-candidate Donald Trump in May of 2016 at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden.

Rodne stirred controversy in November of 2015 with a false claim:

"Obama wants to import 1.5 million Muslims into the U.S. This is absolute madness. Islam is incompatible with Western Civilization. How many people need to die. Amicans (sic) arm yourselves!!!!"
