Fast ferry to connect Kingston and Seattle starting Nov. 26
Kingston will be just a hop, skip and a jump away when a new "fast ferry" route opens to Seattle on Nov. 26.
The service will be provided by the ferry Finest, and will take about 40 minutes to cross Puget Sound, cutting the trip's average time nearly in half, and can carry up to 250 passengers.
But you won't have to wait that long to make the trip--free of charge.
On Friday, Nov. 23, Kitsap Transit will host what it calls "Finest Friday" (while most everyone else calls it Black Friday) to give ferry riders a free taste of the service. Fares will not be collected on this day. Boats will depart Kingston regularly between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and depart Seattle about an hour after each Kingston sailing. A full schedule is available at this link.
Then, when regular service starts Nov. 26, there will be six total trips from 5:25 a.m. to 5:55 p.m. leaving Kingston, and between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. leaving Seattle. A full winter service schedule is available here. Fares are set at $2 for eastbound passengers and $10 for those heading west.
