Seattle ranks 5th in most money spent on parks -- per resident
Seattle is building upward and outward by the day. The crane capital of the world seems to spend all of its tech money building condos, apartments and other forms of increasingly pricey housing. But Seattle isn't quite a concrete jungle -- yet. It loves its green space as well.
According to a City Park Facts Report from The Trust for Public Land, Seattle ranks fifth among cities in the U.S. that spend the most dollars per resident on city parks. To the city's credit, they rank fourth if the data excluded private spending.
Why is it important to look at the data based on spending per resident?
The obvious reason is that massive cities would lead the way; New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles all spend the most on parks. But, Los Angeles only spends $100 per resident, whereas Seattle spends $279 per resident.
