Strange that we haven't had any threads here about the KOMO helicopter crash...

If you look back at the photos I posted of the Seahawks parade several weeks earlier -- spookily enough, the helicopter took off from the building directly behind where I was standing, and came down on the other of the street, pretty much at the spot that's in the immediate background of those photos. The fated "flight path" of the helicopter would have been more or less right over my head.

It was called "Seattle News Helicopter Crashed" or something like that. But yeah, I thought about that parade while I watched all the news coverage of it burning; it could have wiped out the team and some 12th man, too. I'd be spooked, like you, if I'd been standing down there only a month ago.

Bill Strothman's memorial is tomorrow (or later today, I mean). It'll be more sad news. I haven't heard a peep on the investigation of the crash, not since that first preliminary statement came out, the Friday after.

Last week, though, the news reports said that there was some footage of the takeoff. The helicopter was rotating during takeoff, which could indicate a problem with the tail rotor.

This took place about a block from my office. I thought the Seattle Center was on fire at first.
