The state health exchange has enrolled more than 9,400 people since launching Oct. 1, and another 10,000 have applied for insurance through the online marketplace.
The first 9,400 people enrolled included those who were enrolling in Medicaid plans and those who were purchasing health insurance through the Healthplanfinder. Although, so far, Medicaid enrollments have outstripped the 916 people who signed up for plans they would have to pay for.
The remaining 10,000 people who have applied have until Dec. 23 to make final payments on their plans to be fully enrolled.

(2,751 posts)I don't understand the Medicaid eligibility part, but doesn't that article mean that 916 have bought private insurance? That isn't bad especially with another 10,000+ applied but not paid.
Washington State made a good choice (that my state of Colorado also made) - you can browse the plans without having to create an account. I think that removes a big hurdle to learning about what is available.
Edit: People have months to sign up. I don't think the counts in the first few days are so important.
