'Go around the lake': Upcoming I-90 closures to create headaches for drivers

A major closure of Interstate 90 at Mercer Island will cause some headaches for drivers trying to get to Seattle, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews plan to replace a critical expansion joint that will cause the closure of the westbound lanes on the I-90 floating bridge.

WSDOT released a staggered closure schedule:

From 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, to 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane west of 76th Avenue Southeast.
