SEATTLE, WA At 98 degrees, Seattle achieved its hottest day in more than a decade Sunday, coming within 5 degrees of its warmest temperature on record. For those seeking a reprieve from the heat: a gradual cooldown begins Monday.
Western Washington posted record-breaking temperatures up and down Puget Sound, with Sunday landing in the record books in Olympia, Seattle and Bellingham.

Seattle's hottest temperature on record is 103 degrees, recorded on July 29, 2009. The city has only reached 98 degrees 12 times since 1894.

According to the National Weather Service, warm weather is on tap for most of the week, but at much less severe levels, starting with afternoon highs about 12 degrees cooler in Seattle on Monday.

(9,953 posts)80's. I so hear you. I have air and I hate using it. I have to be dying. Used it for a couple three hours the last two days, first time ever. I hate the heat, hate it hate it. I was saying this on my walk with dog just now, to every person I saw.
Hi.... I hate the heat, lol. The only thing I truly whine about.

(20,609 posts)It is immobilizing. I spent the day sitting in the shade but did not accomplish much until a nice breeze came up.

(9,953 posts)now that summer was here. NO ONE went outside, all stuck in house, windows closed air on. I was outside less in hotter climates than I was in the winter.
