Seattle launches online marketplace to get masks to people, businesses that need them

Seattle is launching an online marketplace to get masks to people and businesses that need them.

The city announced this week the launch of Seattle Protects, which will help connect businesses, community groups and others who want to buy face coverings with local manufacturers.

“Wearing cloth face coverings is part of the new normal, and it’s up to all of us to protect the health and safety of our communities," Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a statement.

Durkan said this week the city has heard from several business owners who want to buy masks in varying quantities.
