Bomb Squad Investigates Package At Naval Station Everett
EVERETT, WA A suspicious package found at Naval Station Everett prompted a lockdown at the base and surrounding areas Thursday morning. According to the U.S. Navy, a team of explosives specialists responded to the base's north gate at 8:15 a.m.
The Navy activated its emergency operations center and instructed all personnel to stay indoors until further notice. Access to the base was restricted during the emergency response.
In an update posted just before noon, Navy officials said the bomb squad was using a robot to examine a truck associated with the package. Other agencies assisting at the scene include the Everett Police Department and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
KOMO News reported neighboring businesses were evacuated during the investigation, and a portion of Marine View Drive was fully closed.
