Beloved Seattle-area taco truck owner dies from coronavirus
Beloved taco guru, Thomas Lopez, has died from the novel coronavirus at the age of 44.
Announced by his family Monday afternoon, owner and operator of the Tacos El Tajin food truck fleet was hospitalized last week after suffering flu-like symptoms.
Unfortunately, his condition worsened and he passed away on Thursday, his son Isaac Lopez told the Seattle Times.
Many of you may have already seen Lopez's name among headlines in 2017, after he made national headlines doling out tacos from his food truck on Interstate 5 after a semitruck rolled over and held up traffic.
Sitting among a flutter of honking horns and tense drivers, Lopez too realized he would no longer make it to South Lake Union for the usual Amazon lunch rush. So, he hopped out, and started dishing out steak and chicken tacos to commuters as they awaited freedom on the road.
