Wet weather continues in Seattle with a chance for snow this weekend
A rainy Seattle January is not over yet -- and isn't expected to go away for early February. Plus, an upcoming dip in temperatures could lead to snow over the weekend.
A series of wet weather systems was expected to remain in the region through the weekend, according to a Friday morning briefing from the National Weather Service. Areas in King County and north were expected to be hardest hit.
From Thursday night to Saturday night, rainfall totals were expected to be 2-3 inches in Seattle. Moderate or major river flooding were possible -- see the map in the slideshow above for where. Gusty winds were also possible, peaking around 30 mph in Seattle.
Then, Saturday night, more strong winds were possible, and overnight lows were expected to drop significantly, approaching freezing. Snow or rain/snow mix were possible throughout the region, though accumulations were expected to be minimal in Seattle.
