Lime to pull e-bikes from Seattle, bring them back with scooters in spring
In an email blast to customers Tuesday morning, Lime shared it was going to remove bicycles from the Seattle area at the end of 2019.
The bike-share company said it's going to remove all of its e-bikes on Dec. 31 just as its permit with the city expire, but that e-bikes will come back in tandem with a e-scooter program in spring 2020.
As of Jan. 1, 2020, the last remaining bike-share company in Seattle will be Uber with its Jump program -- the red bicycles around the city.
"As we head into the winter season, we have already reduced our e-bike operations based on demand. Given our current permit expires at the end of the year, we are removing our bike fleet by Dec. 31. We remain very committed to working with the City of Seattle to create a robust mobility program in the Spring that includes a mix of free-floating scooters and improved bike options that are a priority to the City," the email read.
