Two sewage spills reported in Bremerton

BREMERTON — The city of Bremerton reported two back-to-back sewage spills on Monday, both of which city officials say were quickly resolved.

An overflow on a sewage system near Kitsap Lake spilled approximately 3,000 gallons of waste. The Kitsap Public Health District has issued a no-contact advisory for the lake in effect through through Dec. 29, warning residents to avoid contact with water.

A second spill at a pump station on Snyder Avenue in West Bremerton resulted in 6,200 gallons of sewage, said Bremerton Public Works Director Tom Knuckey.

“The two events are totally unrelated, but they both happened yesterday,” Knuckey said.

of course they are related. They were both overflows from inadequate storage facilities but allowed by Ecology. Port Angeles has that issue too.
