Police apprehend 'Grinch' from weekend Christmas tree caper
PUYALLUP, Wash. -- You're a mean one, Mr. Christmas Tree Thief...
But you didn't get too far. Federal Way police announced Friday that they have apprehended a suspect in last weekend's Christmas tree caper.
Someone stole dozens of Christmas trees from a U-cut tree farm along SR 162 near Puyallup last weekend, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators believe the thieves went to the Snowshoe Evergreen Tree Farm sometime between Saturday and Monday morning, then cut and dragged 78 Fraser Fir trees across the property. The loss is estimated at more than $6,000. Deputies said thieves got to the farm using the Foothills Trails. They cut the fence to get into the farm and steal the trees.
