Rideshare load zones come to Capitol Hill to ease congestion

SEATTLE – Capitol Hill is home to bustling bars and big weekend crowds, and when it's time to head home, there's a surge of people looking to hail a ride.

Now the city is looking to relieve some of that congestion.

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is working with Uber and Lyft to add designated loading zones for late night pickups in a six-block area bordered by Broadway, 12th Ave, E Pine St, and E Union St.

From midnight to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, those requesting rides will input their destination as normal, and the app will display a map notifying the closest pickup point.
