Multiple small wildfires break out amid gusty winds in eastern Washington

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Firefighters were busy Monday evening putting out multiple wildland fires that were sparked amid windy conditions in eastern Washington.

Most of the fires broke out in Benton County around 7 p.m., according to Benton County Fire District One Chief Lonnie Click.

The fires burned for about 3.5 hours amid winds gusting to 50 mph, Click said. One fire on Case Road and Old Inland Emprie Highway reached 30 acres in size. Firefighters had all the fires under control by 10:30 p.m., Click said. No injuries were reported and no structures were affected.

Meanwhile, a 15-acre brush fire broke out in Douglas County.
