LACEY, Wash. - A semi-trailer tractor slammed into a train trestle early Tuesday near Lacey, spilling its cargo of chocolate peppermint-covered pretzels and sparking a closure of the road and the railroad tracks, officials said.
Deputies and medics responded to the scene, on Mullen Road SE near its intersection with Afflerbaugh Court SE, at around 5:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a tractor-trailer crash.
A rig was found at the scene with its trailer ripped open and its cargo of pretzels scattered all over the roadway, said Lt. Ray Brady of the Thurston County Sheriffs Office.
No injuries were reported.
A preliminary investigation found that the tractor-trailer driver proceeded forward under the trestle even though the trailer was too tall to fit under it. She was cited for negligent driving, failure to obey signs warning about the bridge and failure to keep an electronic logbook.
