County now lets you apply for concealed pistol permit online
EVERETT Getting a concealed pistol license just got a lot easier in Snohomish County.
The license itself is changing and so is the process of obtaining one.
Gone, as of Saturday, will be the old paper version. Its being replaced by a plastic card similar to a drivers license.
At the same time, the county is one of the first in the state to allow people to apply online for a new concealed pistol license or to renew an old one from home or by cellphone.
That option started earlier this week. Its proven popular.
From 5 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriffs office received 50 online applications.
Thats 50 people who didnt have to make the trek to the courthouse, pay to park and wait in the lobby, said Shari Ireton, a sheriffs office spokeswoman.

Applicants still will need to stop by to verify their identification and have their fingerprints taken. Theyll be able to do so by appointment instead of waiting.
