5 Ways Virginia May Be the Worst State in the Nation

Reading the news these days is like going through a time warp. States across the country are racing toward the past. It's 2012 and we're still forced to stomach "debates" on birth control and whether we should be teaching science in the classroom. Georgia may pass a law banning protests at or near private homes. In Missouri Republicans are stripping healthcare provisions for the blind. We've hit a new low. And one of the states leading this mad dash to the bottom is Virginia.

It isn't known for being a bastion of liberalism, but even for a "purplish" state, Virginia has taken extraordinarily conservative actions recently. The push has come from the Right -- and the perfect storm of a Republican governor with eyes on the vice president's mansion in Washington: an ultra-conservative attorney general (who thought the goddess on Virginia's state seal, which dates back to 1776, was dressed inappropriately); and a GOP-controlled state legislature. The combination has been bad news for women, gays and lesbians, the environment, and just about everyone else in the state, too. Here are five recent examples of just how bad things have gotten.

"The state with the second-highest total in per-capita federal funds received was Virginia, at $19,734."

Alaska was #1.

They yapp about small government and all this money flows into their state. All that money helping their state keep a lower unemployment rate. All that money helping state tax revenues. Yep, big government is just KILLING VA.

Everything in the article is correct and in fact much worse, Virginia repukes are extremely proud to be stupid, dark-ages racists who constantly vote against the interests of society and mankind overall. They actively pursue idiocy as if it's some fun little game they can play in order to tell the rest of the world to fck off. It's mental illness in its purest form.

In a society where idiots could be voted out they would be but, politics in the U.S. is corrupt and run by criminals who thrive on greed. The laws and the lawmakers in Virginia are mostly bought and so "law" doesn't really mean anything to anyone except the abusive cops who love yelling at people and collecting ticket money.

So in a society that doesn't take mental illness or health care seriously and exists purely for the profiteering created by "deregulating" governments it'd be great if such justice existed as being able to vote out regressive knuckleheads but it doesn't. The U.S. could start by having a Justice Department that actually upheld laws but that doesn't exist either.

Last time I checked, these Flat Earth politicians don't just magically take their seats in Richmond! How about the Flat Earth knuckle draggers known as voters? Don't they deserve at least part of the responsibility for putting these asshats into office?

Are the voters to be given a free pass?

Let's start by accepting the fact that a good portion of Virginia voters are just as corrupt, racist, and full of hate as the politicians they vote for...and then we can add in the religious fanatics who hate what extremist Islam calls for, while never seeing in the mirror that they are just as evil and extreme!

Then we can look at the women who seem to be suffering from spouse abuse syndrome, especially when they also vote for politicians who have already thrown them under a bus when it came to a woman's right to manage her own health care issues.

And last, those women in the state legislature who have become collaborators against their own gender, by both introducing and voting for bills that force women to undergo a medical procedure that is nothing more then a tool to shame them.

So you see, it isn't only the corrupt, racist, religious fanatics who represent the people, the blame also has to be placed on those people who support and vote for those politicians!

believe me, I have no illusions about it being an easy task. However, I see it is a necessary task , otherwise we may as well throw in the towel.
