By Sam Wall The Roanoke Times 8 hrs ago
A Northern Virginia political activist took to a conservative website to air her grievances regarding the leftist propaganda she says she witnessed at her sons orientation at Virginia Tech.
Penny Nance, CEO and president of Concerned Women for America, wrote that she can no longer ignore the indefensible and discriminatory behavior of the liberal campus bullies in her opinion piece My Sons Freshman Orientation At Virginia Tech Was Full Of Leftist Propaganda, published Wednesday in the The Federalist, where she is listed as a contributor.
The university pushed back Thursday saying it doesnt push a political agenda at orientation but rather focuses on providing a well-rounded education in and out of the classroom.
We have students coming from all walks of life and we are simply a reflection of that, Tech spokeswoman Tracy Vosburgh said in Thursday afternoon interview.
Nances piece had hundreds of comments, reactions and shares alone on The Federalist Facebook page by Thursday afternoon.
....
Tech alumna Aubree Harrington took to her blog at www.adultingkinda.weebly.com to respond to Nances opinion on the orientation, stating that Harrington believes Virginia Tech is determined to create an incredibly exciting and joyous orientation experience while also attempting not to be defined by its tragedy.
....
According to her work bio, Nance graduated from Liberty University and has appeared on a variety of major television networks as a commenter on contemporary events and domestic issues. She did not return multiple requests for comment .
....
Harrington said that she doesnt hold any ill will toward Nance; she just disagrees with her articles premise. ... I dont really relate with the left or the right. So as a Hokie, I just know what it means to be a good human.

My Sons Freshman Orientation At Virginia Tech Was Full Of Leftist Propaganda
Now that I have witnessed college propaganda firsthand, I refuse to ignore the indefensible and discriminatory behavior of the liberal campus bullies anymore.

Are taxpayers funding academic institutions to indoctrinate our kids? That disturbing and irresistible question plagued me during the long drive home last week from college orientation. I doubt I am alone in this wake-up call.
Like many other women, I just sent my youngest child to college. I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Army ROTC and study engineering. He will be attending a revered Virginia institution known for its military Corps of Cadets program.
The centerpiece of the campus is the military parade field featuring beautiful pylons bearing the schools founding principles: words such as honor, duty, brotherhood, and ut prosim (that I may serve). The war memorial also bears the names of all known cadets who have given their lives for our nation since World War I.
Established in 1872, Virginia Tech has an honorable and proud tradition in my home state, and its graduates are some of the most accomplished and wonderful people I know. Hokies shine around our nation as leaders and as a great credit to their school. I know many to be people of faith, and many, many are conservative.
The Madness Begins
Because of this, I was shocked to experience what I can only describe as extreme and overtly leftist propaganda spewed at our childrens orientation. The opening University Welcome event for students and parents separated families immediately in the auditorium.

Get Up and Do Something
I have called out Virginia Tech in this op-ed, but other schools in Virginia and around the nation exhibit the identical issue. It is rampant.
Parents, donors, and alumni, if you identify with this experience, its up to you. Our institutions have gotten this out of hand because most people are silent, too afraid of the social media harassment and bullying tactics of liberal activists and professors. Speak up.
First, send screen shots, video, or your story to Concerned Women for America at UniversityWhistleBlower@CWFA.org. We wont disclose your name without permission, but we will tell your story.

(182,949 posts)The Liberty crowd has a Righteousness Privilege that buckles your knees when you get it. It's passive aggressive/ stealth as a mother but once you realize you are in their game it's something to behold. They are al over the public sector here. I've met one ONE who was good at their job and didn't act like they were two steps above their position. As far as performance it's odd that they are right in the middle. Neither really bad or really good. It's like they are lying in wait for something. Just bland.

Nobody expected the event to begin with prayer or the Pledge of Allegiance heavens, no! But one might expect to remember the names of fallen cadets on the pylons or the 32 dead and 17 injured in the 2007 shooting on Virginia Techs campus, the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. Nope. Instead, the administration made the stunning choice to open orientation by recognizing two Native American tribes on whose land the college was built (with the implication that it was stolen).

Campus insanity has gone this far because we were silent. When do we say enough?

(740 posts)" When do we say enough" When do we say enough to your Right-wing BS and to your attempts to pack the courts with Right-Wing Whack jobs or say enough to your attempt to impose your religion on us. The problem in this nation isn't us it you and the hate and dishonesty that you bring to the table.

(182,949 posts)The kid must be smart because it's tough as hell to get into that engineering program.
Sounds like this moron from Liberty expected some sort of quasi military gun humping fest. Look if the kid could get into Va. Tech he could probably have gotten into West Point which was founded primarily as an engineering school.
The pronouns thing - ok that's new to me too (she clearly doesn't understand the Me Too movement) but hey being nice doesn't cost you anything.
Tech must be doing something right. They had to set aside a $1M+ to pay kids NOT to start this fall. They over accepted and it was determined that that size of a freshman class would put way too much strain on the community and even the school's systems.
Shut the F up Peggy.

Everyone should know: "Concerned Women for America" is a far-right, religious fanatic, looney-tunes bunch of extremists who want women utterly subjected to the whims and controls of men, walking exactly 2.5 steps behind their proper, GOP, conservative, "Promise Keeper" husbands. It's a backward outfit that wants to take women back to the past, and American women aren't buying it. Funny that she thought she was a victim of "bullies," when she certainly supports the Bully-in-Chief installed in the White House. Good to see the Tech people striking back at this stuff. Hope her son stays at Tech and makes it clear to Mom that he wants nothing to do with freakin' Liberty "University."

Virginia Tech is as leftist as Penny Nance is rational. In other words, not.

I thought when I went to read her complaints that there might be something arguable, but people voluntarily stating their preferred pronoun and recognizing the Native Americans who were there first don't rise to that level.
Perhaps she needs a safe space far away from Blacksburg.

(14,547 posts)My kid turned down VT. Glad he is not in a class with her little snowflake. He might of met my kid, who bases his world view on facts. We all know facts have a liberal bias.
Her idea of "liberal indoctrination" is to treat people with respect. She can choose not to pay for his choice in collage. Or risk her son being tolerant of those not exactly like him.
