FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (ABC7) A second Fairfax County retirement community is battling an unusual summertime outbreak of a mysterious respiratory illness.
The countys health department says about 25 people have gotten sick at the Heatherwood retirement community in Burke, including two cases of pneumonia. No one has died.
A doctor with the health department says there doesnt appear to be a link between that outbreak and another outbreak at the Greenspring retirement community about seven miles away in Springfield.

Schwartz also gave an update on the outbreak at Greenspring, in which more than 60 residents and nearly 20 employees have gotten sick. About two dozen residents have been hospitalized, and three people have died.
Schwartz says the Centers for Disease Control tested 17 samples from Greenspring residents who had gotten sick, but no common link was found that could identify what the mystery illness was.

Schwartz says the outbreak has been confined to Greensprings Garden Ridge, a facility for residents who need extra care. He says it has not spread to the independent living areas of the community.
