An 80-year-old traveler from Richmond was arrested at Richmond International Airport with a loaded handgun, according to an airport spokesman.
On Wednesday morning, the passenger was attempting to go through the Concourse A security screening when the .25-caliber Beretta was discovered in a carry-on bag. The gun was loaded with a magazine, but had no round in the chamber, according to Troy M. Bell, airport spokesman.
The person was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a firearm in an airport terminal; both are misdemeanors.
Bell said the airport would not identify the passenger until arraignment.

(6,110 posts)in his luggage. An 80 year old can have poor memory.
I am only in 70's and can't remember what I ate for breakfast.

(6,110 posts)you will discover, memory is not what it used to be.
Old people have bad memory regardless of party/gender/religion/national origin/rich or poor.

(6,110 posts)and I do not see use of word "ALL" in my post.
Perhaps you are reading more into it.
Having said that, I can say with 100% certainly about 80 year old people.
1. They have less stamina than at age 40
2. They have less capacity to have sex than age 40
3. They can not eat or drink as much as they could at age 40
4. Their memory is worse than at age 40. That does not mean they have lost all memory, it is just significantly diminished.

In life, everything is relative. When I say I have bad memory, it is relative to memory I had at age 40. I am now in 70's.
Getting back to my original post, an 80 year old can easily forget what items are in his/her bag. The gun could have been there from a car trip. I do not know.
But I feel better knowing TSA caught the gun before boarding the flight. It means they are doing their job.
