(17,442 posts)We had three deaths last week, all in flooding of smaller tributaries.
I keep track of the water levels on NOAA's site: https://water.weather.gov/ahps/region.php?state=va
It is a map with all the water gauges in the US. You can zoom in and hover the cursor over a gauge and a graph will pop up. Some have forecast graphs as well. Click on a gauge and you will get a new page that has the graph plus some text that describes what the effects of various levels are. This site needs a good connection and a PC to work well. I am able to directly check a forecast graph on the phone, but I'm not able to use the full site.
A video of the river is good to see too. The power of that water always awes me.

(1,076 posts)The river is FULL bank. No rapids showing. Did not get to check the confluence with the Potomac at Harper's Ferry.
It is awesome to see mother nature in full force. It is a story and a memory.
As I understand, Alexandria is having issues with high tide and river flow.
I trust good judgement is in for all around the rivers.
