Charlottesville: Jury says ten years for Goodwin in DeAndre Harris assault case

This is just their recommendation, sentencing hearing will happen later.

but if this guy leaves prison with a bunch of unfortunate tattoos which will restrict his future ambitions, I'm not going to feel sorry for him.

It will be up to a judge. I don't know about how an appeal might go either. I ran across a funding page for the defendant and in more than 180 days they had raised only $1025 and were looking for $10k.

That amount of money was raised in less than day for those who weren't white supremacists for medical or legal purposes. I guess the master race is broke.
