The status hearing on the Texas redistricting case in San Antonio was moved from Feb. 15 to Valentine's Day with the court reserving the right to have a second day of hearing. One blog is having a poetry/limerick contest in honor of this date http://txredistricting.org/post/17322541958/valentines-day-redistricting-rhymes-a-contest-of Here are some of my favorites on this list
This one is from Harold Cook:You can go to Michael Li's blog to submit your own contributions
Roses are red/while others are pink/can we have primaries/oh, what do you think?
From John Reynolds of the Quorum Report:
Violets are blue/judges robes are black/we really messed this up/can we have it back?
From Ramiro Canales:
A district here, a district there. A little love everywhere.
From Marc Cowart of the Texas Conservative Review:
Roses are red, violets are blue. I dont like your maps, so I must sue!
From David Edmonson:
Chocolates are played out, not flowers again. The Senate needs Wendy, how about a new SD-10?
From Taylor Holden:
Be my Valentine, legislative member. Can we please have a primary before this November?
Another from Harold Cook:
Roses are red/their thorns will prick. You think we could have/some maps that will stick?"

From Denise McNamara:
Gerrymandering is just such fun,
Never mind there is work to be done.
Lines should be drawn that are logical, fair,
How about districts that resemble a square?
Letting the lawmakers draw their own lines,
Leads to shenanigans and tricks of all kinds.
All of the parties will never agree,
Please set a primary date ASAP.
A haiku entitled A Staffer and a Map by Scott Tyler:
Colored pencils dance,
Bruce keeps us informed swift,
I am haunted by the maps.
From Anonymous:
Roses are red, Texas is turning blue,
Cant be stopped
Despite the bad maps you drew.
