Gov. Perry is Chicago-bound to tout Texas

In his latest foray into interstate job poaching, Gov. Rick Perry will head to Chicago Monday for a two-day visit touting Texas as a destination for financial industry and biotech jobs, and to speak at the 2013 BIO International Convention.

Perry launched radio ads on four Chicago stations Wednesday, building on a week of print and web ads warning Windy City businesses, “you need to get out while there’s still time.”

Perry’s office said that the $42,000 radio ad buy is being paid for by TexasOne, as is the advertising with Crain’s Chicago Business and his travel and accommodations in Chicago — “no state tax dollars will be used.”

Altogether, the ad buy comes to $80,450, a very modest amount. The Chicago campaign is modeled on a similar bid earlier this year to draw California businesses to Texas, which involved a minuscule radio ad campaign that prompted an avalanche of free coverage and a Perry visit with a business entourage to California.

I checked out the Illinois Group's response. - LOL When Reagan came to my college in Wisconsin that is what they did to him. They threw tomatoes and eggs at him. (1976)

I swear Perry does this stuff so that his base will think he's tough, so he will get elected again. I don't think he's gonna attract jobs or more importantly any people.
