Gov. Perry launches ad campaign to lure Chicago businesses to Texas

Gov. Rick Perry Monday launched an ad campaign in Crain’s Chicago Business and its on-line site inviting businesses to move to Texas.

The theme is, “Get Out While There’s Still Time,” as if Chicago were on the verge of collapse, under invasion, or once again on fire. The full-page print ad includes an image of a red exit door, with “Emergency Escape” stenciled inside the familiar outline of the state of Texas.

Below smaller-font text of Perry touting the state’s virtues for business — from “no state personal income tax” to “union membership one-third of Illinois” — it reads, “The Escape Route is Clear … All the Way to Texas.”

The $38,450 campaign is paid for with non-governmental funds by TexasOne, which also paid for a $24,000 radio ad buy earlier this year seeking to lure California businesses to Texas, which was followed by a visit to California by the governor.

It was hysterical watching him get reamed by Governor Brown using statistics for Texas (49th in education, highest number of uninsured in the country, etc.).

Texas except it would be nothing but a lie. Our education system went down when Bush was elected governor but Perry hasn't improved it any. I love this state but not those in office right now. We are friendly for the most part.

He will have them visiting the state when the daily low temp is in the high 90's.

He should start the campaign in late October, early November. Have the visitors in during January (when Northern Illinois high temp is below 0 degrees F.

Better yet, raid Wisconsin. The weather is much colder and the Gov there should be more than happy to help out a fellow Repub.
