Former Kaufman County justice of the peace charged with making 'terroristic threat'

KAUFMAN (AP) — Authorities investigating the death of a Texas district attorney searched the home of a former justice of the peace and charged him Saturday with making a "terroristic threat."

Eric Williams was admitted to the Kaufman County Jail early Saturday morning, jail records show. A hearing was scheduled for Saturday, a Kaufman County Jail spokesperson said.

Officials have not named Williams, 46, as a suspect in the March 30 deaths of District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, or in the late January death of assistant DA Mark Hasse, who was fatally shot as he was leaving work in Kaufman.

But federal and local authorities searched Williams' home Friday as part of an investigation into the McLellands' deaths.

But suspicion long centered on Williams, authorities say. His first theft case — in which he was accused of stealing three computer monitors — was aggressively prosecuted by McLelland and Hasse. At the emergency room in the hours after Hasse’s murder, McLelland told others that he believed Williams was behind his top assistant’s death. He made similar statements to other people before he died.

However, this guy (if it's him) could have had help. Especially in the double murder. I guess he could have pulled both off alone.

Some of the posts made when it first happened were DUzies.

Occams Razor alone said they were wrong.

KAUFMAN — The wife of a former judge is charged with capital murder in connection with the slayings of a North Texas district attorney, his wife and an assistant prosecutor.

The charge Wednesday against Kim Lene Williams is the latest twist in an investigation that had recently focused on her husband. A law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation says she has been arrested and charged with capital murder.
