In September a federal grand jury in Dallas indicted 68-year-old Jackie Don Burke on a single count of selling firearms without a license to do so. The government said Burke was selling weapons out of his screen-printing shop in Garland, everything from 12-gauge Winchester shotguns to .44-caliber Rugers to .22-calibers Walthers. And it took a while, but a jury finally found Burke guilty.
Court records show the trial began January 29 and wrapped one week ago today. It took the jury a couple of days to return its verdict. According to court records, some members of the jury had several questions for the judge, among them: We would like a legal deffinition [sic] of a dealer. Specifically how does selling consignment guns corrolate [sic] to being a dealer to being a private party. To which District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn responded: The court has provided to the jury all the definitions that the court can provide.
Finally, on February 1, the jury returned its guilty verdict. The U.S. Attorneys Office just sent a release concerning the outcome, and says the Rowlett resident faces a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Hell remain free on bond till Lynn sentences him on May 24.
According to prosecutors, Burke sold at least 135 firearms out of his Garland shop over a 14-month period one, a pistol, to an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Says the U.S. Attorneys Office, Burke didnt even ask the agent if he was a prohibited person, which is to say a convicted felon to whom he shouldnt be selling the gun.

(7,672 posts)Rowlett is where that woman killed her two little boys by faking an intruder, but she cut her window screens from the inside out.
Apparently, violent stupidity is fairly common there.
Thank goodness all the buyers of those weapons were screened by themselves! They wouldn't want a gun if there was anything wrong with them, would they?
I personally hope that whoever is responsible for the one county only is robbed with one of the other 134 weapons.
Instant karma, please!
