Blue Bell Creameries, which recently undertook a major expansion of its Brenham plant, has announced plans to build two new distribution centers in North Carolina.
The company began selling its popular ice cream in the Raleigh/Durham area in March, and sales have been brisker than anticipated.
"The reception from consumers in the area has certainly been beyond our expectations," company spokesman Bill Weiss said from his Brenham office.
To keep up with demand, the company is temporarily expanding its leased distribution space in the Raleigh/Durham area, Weiss said.

(28,271 posts)I regard Blue Bell's Moolinium Crunch as proof of a benevolent God. Soul-searching time (sigh).....
they have contributed to Republican campaigns also.
I'm a Haagen-Daz fan, but none of the stores carry it here locally. Blue Bell tastes good when using a fresh carton, but because of the high sugar content it is more susceptible to freezer burn. I usually buy the pint size rather than a half-gallon to avoid the problem.
